Cinema Time Machine

Cinema Time Machine

Travel to any year and browse film and TV as it was then. Pick a year from the dropdown in Discover and see what audiences were watching, plus a "This Week, Years Ago" row of films released this week in years past. Notes: titles are popularity-ranked (box-office data is patchy for older years) and TV is listed at the show level, not per-episode. This addon uses TMDB and the TMDB APIs but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.

Documentation

Cinema Time Machine

Pick any year and browse film and TV as it was then.

Choose 1985 and the rows fill with what audiences were watching that year — Back to the Future, The Goonies, The Breakfast Club. Jump to 1969 for True Grit and Butch Cassidy, or drop in on the films that were in cinemas this very week decades ago. It's a time machine for your watchlist.

What you get

  • Time Machine — Films — pick a year, see that year's most popular films.
  • Time Machine — TV — the same idea for television.
  • This Week, Years Ago — films released this very week, 10, 25, 40 or 50 years back. A fresh, nostalgic row every day.

The year picker spans the last 80 years — a rolling "within your lifetime" window — so there's always a decade worth revisiting.

How to use it

  1. Install the addon.
  2. Open Discover in Stremio.
  3. Choose Time Machine — Films (or Time Machine — TV).
  4. Open the dropdown at the top — instead of genres, it's full of years. Pick one.
  5. The row refills with that year. Travel as often as you like.

Click any title to open its details and play it through your usual stream sources.

Good to know

  • This is a discovery addon, not a streaming source. It shows you what to watch; playback comes from the stream addons you already have installed (such as Torrentio). If a title won't play, you simply need a stream addon set up — that's not something this addon does.
  • Films and TV only — no music or other media.
  • Ranked by popularity, because reliable box-office data is patchy for older years.
  • TV is listed at the show level, not per individual episode.
