Local torrent cache for your TV
Stremio Local Debrid moves torrent downloads and storage from a slow TV to your computer. The TV receives an HTTP video stream over your home network, while your computer keeps downloading and stores the cache for later playback. No paid cloud debrid account is required.
Setup on macOS, Linux or Windows
Install Node.js 24 or newer, then run:

The built-in setup wizard generates your private config.json. It asks for the language, computer address, cache folder, disk limits and addons, then offers to start the server and register automatic startup at login. Press Enter to keep a suggested value. You do not need to copy an example or edit JSON by hand. Rerunning setup preserves the token and downloads. A public config.json.example remains available as a reference.
On macOS, sign in to Stremio 5 with the TV's account and enable addon discovery. Installed addons synchronize every 60 seconds. On Linux and Windows, enter configured addon manifest URLs in the wizard, one at a time; leave the next answer empty to finish. Compatible HTTP addons returning torrent hashes, magnets or explicit .torrent links supply Local Cache sources.
Automatic startup uses LaunchAgent on macOS, a systemd user service on Linux, and Task Scheduler on Windows. For scripts, use npm run setup -- --yes. To generate configuration without a background service, use npm run setup -- --no-service. Use --lang pt-BR to select a language or --help to see the options.
Connect Stremio on the TV
Open the dashboard address saved in state/status-url.txt on the computer. Choose a language and click Install in Stremio using the TV's account. Refresh addons or reopen Stremio on the TV, then select a Local Cache source for a movie or episode. The computer must remain awake and reachable from the TV.
The public manifest listed here opens the installation portal. Playback uses your own server and private manifest address, which contains an access token. Keep that address and configured provider URLs private.
Cache and playback
Downloads continue after closing the player and resume after a restart. Only the selected torrent file is downloaded, and duplicate sources share the cache. Defaults are a 100 GiB cache and 10 GiB of reserved free space; completed torrents used least recently are removed when space is needed. First playback depends on available peers. The TV must support the video's codec; the server does not transcode. Direct video links and services that do not expose torrents cannot be cached by this addon.
The setup wizard, dashboard, stream labels, errors and guides support all 51 Stremio interface locales. No media catalog or telemetry is bundled. Use content you have rights to access.
